As an active member of two World Economic Forum (WEF) boards — the Global Artificial Intelligence Council and the Fourth Industrial Revolution Advisory Committee (4IR) — will.i.am is the only entrepreneur and business sector leader on the 4IR committee who is not from a Fortune 100 company. Moreover, in 2016 he was honoured by the WEF with a Crystal Award in recognition of his cultural leadership and focus on STEM education advocacy.
will.i.am is an avid supporter of youth and the next generation of innovators. His i.am.angel Foundation, of which he is Founder and President, funds a number of educational programs for children in underprivileged neighbourhoods, teaching them subjects ranging from coding, robotics to GIS mapping and Mandarin Chinese. He’s also a proponent of the FIRST Robotics Competition, an international event designed to help young people build science, engineering and technology skills. will.i.am became the first recipient of the “Make It Loud” award for his work increasing awareness about the competition.
